GPU idle temperature?

I have an XFX Radeon HD 5770 GPU and when I got it from my cousin (it was handed down to me) the idle temperatures were about 38c-45c. Today however I turned on my computer and went downstairs to make something to eat before I go off to class and when I got back upstairs my computer was stuck on my motherboard screen. The computer speaker made the one beep to signal everything was fine and I fixed it by unplugging my external hard drive, re-plugging it back in, and turning off power to two USB Flash Drives that were running in a Hub.

Now when it was stuck on the screen, my fans were running full speed really really loud. I have a 3 speed fan controller on my case and I always have it set to three since I'm in a non air conditioned room and it's summer. When I finally got it back on I noticed that my GPU was idling at about 65c. Not sure if running two monitors would make the temperatures go up a bit. As I'm typing this out the idles temperature went from 65 to about 62c idle.

I cleaned it from dust with a compressed air can a while back and I'm starting to wonder if it might be that. My PSU, GPU, and CPU were given as a hand me down from another gaming PC. I cleaned the old thermal paste from my CPU and got new paste and a new CPU heatsink, and the PSU I opened it myself and undusted every little bit of dust in there. I didn't open my GPU however.

Any tips from someone more experienced? This is my first build, and built in January of 2014.

I wouldn't mix RAM like that.

Yeah I never meant to do that but when I was first building the computer I was on a budget so I got the Crucial 4gigs of RAM but then later on I got my Financial Aid money for school so I got HyperX RAM. I do plan to change out the crucial memory for the same HyperX ones in the future for the look and other purposes.

i suspect the the hd 5770 have issue running those 2 monitor since you have onboard video remove the gpu and try each of those monitor one at the time to see how system handle them you may try both if the internal gpu permit it do the same with the hd 5770 after to see if she made the same issue .

I've tried to run my on board graphics from NorthBridge but everytime I hooked up my second monitor to it, I would get no signla back. After class today I'll unplug my second monitor and see if it will bring the heat down. I did some gaming last night after class and I was sitting around 71c-75c under load. I'm most likely going to open the GPU itself, clean out the dust, and replace the thermal paste to see if that helps anything.

this look like you gone a need a better gpu to play with those 2 monitor at the same time and avoid overheath .
