Hi guys, so i got my new gtx 760 OC from Zotac and tried it out on Uningine 4 to see what result i would get .

I ran the uningine with all settings at ultra in 1080p this includes 8x AA, extreme tessilation, Ultra quality etc.

Here is my rig

AMD phenom II x4 b60 3.3ghz
Zotac GTX 760 OC 2GB
Asus m4n68t-m le v2
8GB RAM
PSU - 500W

here are my results from the benchmark

Average fps - 30.7
Score - 777
Min fps - 12.4
Max fps - 70.7

Can someone tell me if this is a decent benchmark result for the components I have got?

Also if anyone spots something in my rig that could do with an upgrade to get the best out of the GPU etc. let me know I am asking for opinions here! :)

Thanks

Well you beat my GPU but not by as much as you probably should.

See there, you have a GTX 760, I have an AMD Radeon 7850. Granted my 7850 is overclocked to be about as fast as an R9 270 or R9 270x. So you are not bottlenecking horribly but a little yes. The Minimum is either your CPU or storage device or a mixture of the two, but most likely the CPU.

Long story short, in some games that are really CPU intense you will bottleneck pretty bad, in most games you probably will be okay. So if money is...
Your CPU might be starting to hold back your GPU but I am not sure how much. I am only compairing this to my personal system. which has an i7-3770k and a Radeon HD 7850 with a pretty big overclock. Still even with the overclock mine shouldn't catch yours.

I think I got 33FPS last time I checked, just a minute I am going to check it again. I don't want to miss read you, but I would think if mine is catching or passing yours then it is held back by the CPU and overclocking your CPU would probably be very beneficial.

Alright so I just finished the benchmark. I did Unigine Valley so I hope that is the one you did, and I matched the rest of your settings. Couldn't do Heaven, its messed up on my system for some reason.

These are my results:
FPS: 32.5
Score: 1360
Min FPS: 17.9
Max FPS: 59.2

So I think this really helps to show your CPU is probably holding your GPU back. Your GPU should be faster than mine, not sure by how much but by quite a bit. This can be seen in the max FPS where you got around 70FPS, probably at a part where the CPU wasn't as intense so your GPU managed a high score, where mine topped out at 60. The average is still below mine though so I am pretty sure your CPU is bottlenecking.

This is all assuming you did the Valley benchmark though. If you did, I recommend doing a little overclocking if you cannot buy a new motherboard. A few hundred Mhz higher could fix it.

I used uningine heaven.

I can't find the brand of my PSU (Anyone know how I can find out? I have opened the case and looked at the specs but can't see a brand name?) but here are the specs

Votage 230 V
Frequency 50hz
Total 500W

Here are the details concerning the CPU

Temperature - it's showing 0 C Must be an error? it has been like this for a while in Core temp or Open Hardware Monitor it shows the cpu temp as 0.

It seems that when I am running Uningine Heaven that the CPU usage gets to about 40% so I presume this means it's ok?

Could you run a Unigine Valley test so we can compare better? If you don't blow my score away its good sign your CPU is holding you back. I would do it but Heaven has a problem with my system.

For the readings, its hard to say. I would advise trying MSI Afterburner. It has an excellent monitoring program.

Thanks for helping. I have decided to start investing in a new CPU, I will not buy one immediately but it'll be a future buy for sure.

I am thinking about getting AMD FX8320 Black Edition 8 Core (3.5/4.0GHz, 8MB Level 3 Cache, 8MB Level 2 Cache, Socket AM3+, 125W,

Now with my current motherboard is this going to work?

I have been thinking about getting this MSI Z87-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard with the I5 4670k. would this work? and would my cooling system and PSU need an upgrade too? Also, can I transfer my current RAM which is DDR3 8GB to the new motherboard?

Your PSU has enough power, but not sure how good of a PSU it is.
Your cooler might work, if it was compatible with LGA 1156 or LGA 1155 it will be.
If not though the stock cooler does the trick, the ones Intel gives out with the CPUs isn't the best but it isn't so bad. Just doesn't work with overclocking.

Yes the RAM should work fine, you won't need better RAM.

Intel does have better offerings at the moment, you might consider getting a Xeon CPU though. It has the performance of an i7 CPU for the cost closer to an i5.
you might also look at getting an x97 chipset instead too, just a little newer board. They currently have H97 and Z97 boards out.

That xeon is quite over my budget. The intel I5 4670k is about £162 which is probably the most I want to spend on a cpu.

Is this the same motherboard you posted? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128726&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

I had to look it up because I'm in UK
