I have two xfx reference r9 290s in crossfire watercooled and both flashed to r9 290x ran really smooth until my PC froze up while playing a game so I rebooted and noticed it said installing new drivers but never touched anything, so I checked MSI afterburner GPU temp #2 says 0c in idle but works when playing games the card wouldn't run over 300mhz so I put force constant voltage and it made my PC crash and I check you z and it shows 2650 instead of the 2816 shaders so I opened up my pc first thing I noticed was the broken bios switch it disappointed me I don't know how it broke wasn't broken when I put the PC together and didn't break while putting it together broke while using it and it looks like force had to of been used now my card is unstable will welding it back on fix the problem? Card was rock solid temps and stability wasn't iced but did oc to see its maximum capabilities and it ran 1200-1500 stable under 60c @ 100%load

Yea you never should of tried to flash that. They laser cut at least part of those, its amazing they didn't straight up die.

You flashed it and OCed it to ridiculous levels and didn't expect problems?

I ran out of breath half way through the sentence, but welding a GPU doesn't seem a good idea.

I don't know if you guys are special or something it was water cooled and I didn't keep it at those clocks I did that for stability test, the problem here is the bios switch it self is physically broken and since then I've been having major issues with the card

So my other card runs fine but the second one with the physically broken bios switch if you actually read what I wrote that's having problems now I know the card it self works but doesn't function properly without the bios switch what could I do? Does xfx do those type of repairs I could do it myself as I've fixed mobos before but never such an expensive GPU. I want solutions not stupid answers that do not relate to my question.

Hello, Unfortunately we don't do these kinds of repairs.

You are welcome to try contacting our support for troubleshooting/servicing, however there's not really a lot they can do (based on your explanation).

We diligently spread the word that the 290a flash would not work like the 6950 flashes before it. People still did it, some had success, most failed within 15 days and warranties had been voided (bios flashing voids XFX warranties).

If there's anything you need, please PM me or open a ticket at xfxsupport.com. Thank you

I agree with that, its nice to see active members of major tech companies actively seeking people who might have problems with their products to fix them. Not to suggest they have a lot of problems, but when it does happen its nice that the companies actually care to resolve problems.

No guys nooooo don't you get it? The card is in good physical condition it would be working but the bios switch is literally ripped off the card likeI could solder it back onto the card but Isdon't know I'd that would work the card is not damaged from over clocking or flashing the GPU itself is fine my bios switch fell off my card and I want to fix that

If you want to try soldering it, go for it. You have already gone this far so you might as well.
