I built my first pc last December and lately I've been having problems with it.

The new Wolfenstein used to run fine on high but started performing poorly on low and my 3d Mark scores have been low enough to be placed in their own section compared to computers with the same hardware. I don't know what's causing the problem.

My two guesses are either my motherboard (bought a somewhat cheap one) or monitor running 1920x1080 being stressful. Any thoughts would help.

My scores on 3d Mark skydiver (9033,9744), systems with same gpu/cpu score 11,000-13,600.

Specs:
Video Card: Sapphire R7 260x 2gb
Prcoessor: AMD FX 6300
Corsair 500W power supply
14 gb ram
Motherboard: AS Rock 960GM/U3S3
Asus VN248H monitor

After looking into this more it seems like my cpu may be the problem as my physics score is very low compared to the graphics score.

I've tried overclocking in amd catalyst control center from 3600 up to 4200 mhz but that doesn't seem to help and might actually score worse.

Any ideas?

Your system looks fine, but I'm more curious as to how you got 14 GB of RAM (assuming your mobo only has 4 RAM slots).

Also, do you have any thermal throttling? Maybe your temperatures are too high in your case because of a repositioning or dust buildup or something similar.

I actually have 12 gb ram, my mistake. One 8 gb stick and one 4 gb.

Temperatures could be the problem, I have all stock fans and I accidentally ordered a micro case so it's pretty cramped.
My physics scores are usually in the 2000-low 3000 but should be 4600-6400 according to benchmark sites.
Could temperature really be causing that? I think I've seen the cpu temp at 77° after testing but no higher.

I'll dust off inside the computer and leave the side panels off when I get home tomorrow to check.

77 C is somewhat high for a CPU IMO, but I doubt it's too high. AMD processors are higher than Intel in terms of temperatures anyways so you should be good. What's GPU temp?

Gpu hasn't been going above 50's that I've seen.

Edit: scratch that, gpu temp was 75 after running test.
