I've been looking to upgrade my cousin's pc for gaming for a while now, and I've compiled two general suggestions that I'm stuck between. He has a 250w power supply, so that's what I've been working around, and I'm wondering which one of these two setups will prove to be better.
Intel Pentium G3258 Dual core (not oced) + GTX 750 Ti
or
AMD A10 7800 APU Quad core
I don't think overclocking would work for him since he has such a small psu to work with. I originally was going to get the G3258/750ti combo since he is a gamer and I've heard the majority of games don't use more than 2 cores, but he also does video editing and plays modern games that use more than 2 cores as well. Any thoughts?

Alright...after trying to come up with something, there is just no way to get an OS, CPU, GPU, and PSU for $200. I would highly recommend him saving up a little more money. Or try getting used parts. It is a great way to stretch your money further when you are on a tight budget.

Here is what I would recommend that he shoot for in parts. You should be able to get under your $200 price mark if you can find them used.

60 W = Graphics Card Power (W)
300 W = Minimum System Power Requirement (W)

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

GeForce GTX 750 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450 Watt power supply unit.
GeForce GTX 750 Ti - On your average system the card requires you to have a 450 Watt power supply unit.

If you are going to overclock GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with a bit more stamina.

id say get the cheapest i3 you can get (WAY better gamer than the Pentium) gtx 750 ti and a new psu (450-550w) depending on his case you will need to get an SFX or ATX psu

from the sound of it its probably a really old ATX case? (I.E, not small form factor)

His budget at the moment is around 200 dollars, including repurchasing an OS. This is why the apu and a midrange mobo seems to make more sense for the money (and psu) but I don't know if it might be worth it to squeeze out a little more money for the cpu and gpu.

Alright in that case, I would recommend going to this website to buy Windows.
https://www.g2a.com/windows-8-professional-32-64-bit-cd-key-global.html

It's $23.31 for a Windows 8.1 Pro key. And then you just download Windows 8 from the Microsoft website. I can contest to it being legit as I just purchased that exact key from that exact link and did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 Pro less than a week ago, and everything works fine. So now you have $175 for a CPU/MOBO/PSU. Let me see what I can come up with.
