HI guys i finally built my gaming pc its freaken awsome (compared to the shitty dell inspiron 15 laptop which is 4 years old ) it nice in slick when it comes doing multiple operations.but for some reason the internet is so slow i did several ping tests..the tests ranging around 300ms ping and a 221jitter and one time 6000 ms ping and 3000 somthing jitter (useing pingtest.net)
my internet is suddenlink useing 15mb internet speeds ( which isnt alot but still was never this slow) so i was about to call up suddelink and give them a piece of my mind but i decided to test my laptops which ended up having a ping 51ms . so why is my shitty old lap top internet connection better then my gaming pc.there both within 5 feet of the router
my pc specs
Graphics:Amd fx 7950
cpu :Amd 8320
motherboard:m5a97 r2
Wifi card:asus pci-n53 n600

Solution
Easiest thing to try is to check the driver. Second, try running the "troubleshoot" option in the network properties window (I'm assuming you're on a Windows platform). If Windows doesn't find a problem, then the problem may lie within the router. You might want to try accessing your router through the default admin IP Address (varies on manufacturer of modem/router, so a quick Google search of your hardware should help you find it). Once there, you might want to check to make sure there are no restrictions placed on your gaming computer.

The actual cause of this could vary quite a lot, but knocking out the driver/troubleshoot option are a good start.

The first thing you should always try when you are having a network problem is to run a test on a wired connection. This will quickly tell you if you have a generic issues with the computer or it is related to the wireless. It is highly likely it is a wireless issue. It can be anything from drivers to settings in the router. You will in general find laptops have better wireless reception than desktops with PCI cards because of the location of the antenna. The laptop antenna are behind the screen which tends to be the optimum placement. When you use a PCI card the antenna are located very close to a big metal box (ie case) and if you are like many people it is stuffed under a table against a wall blocking the antenna from many directions. Make sure the antenna face the router.
