Best card range for i7 870(non k) without bottlenecking

Exactly, I agree. I have a 875K processor at stock speeds and a GTX 780 Ti. There isn't even a hint of bottlenecking. In fact all that GPU horsepower has come in handy for games like Far Cry 3, Bioshock Infinite, COD: Ghosts, and the Witcher 2 with Ubersampling enabled.
Newegg has the Asus GTX 780 Ti DirectCU OC for $560 after rebate with a free copy of Borderlands the Pre-Sequel, but of course you're going to wait until the GTX 980 gets released on September 19th first.

I think you guys have misread the OP, (or I have) the CPU is the old Lynnfield LGA1156 i7: http://ark.intel.com/products/41315/Intel-Core-i7-870-Processor-8M-Cache-2_93-GHz

@Dannyboi: still like to hear from you about the PSU and clock speed of the CPU. Also information on your budget and screen or screens resolution would help us to suggest a suitable card (I assume you're thinking of making a purchase not just asking out of curiosity).

As long everything is up to par you will have no problem cpu wise, got a first gen i5 my self and it gets the job done nicely. Don't need the newest to get by in comfort.
