Well i have Sony r422a 32 Inch 720p Pixels but it can display 1080p.
I play games on it but my gpu is gtx 750 ti with a Core i5 2400 upto 3.4Ghz.
So my gpu might struggle at 1080p

Distance of viewing is 6+ feet. will there be any difference at 1080p and 720p over 6 feet? And my gpu will also struggle at 1080p right?

Will the upgrade be worth it.?

No at 1080p i wont get my fps target (60 fps) . So the upgrade would be worth it. I mean at 1366x768 i can Play Games at Ultra 60 fps but on 1080p i might have to go medium.

Dont run any Anti Aliasing at 1080p, you may need to turn down other settings, but its still worth it. 1080p looks much better than 720p.

However, dont bother using 1080p on your Sony r422a, as it doesnt have enough pixels and will simply downscale it back to 720p - pointless as your GPU will be doing a lot more work just for the TV to downscale it again.

I am asking will it be worth it to upgrade from a 720p TV to 1080p even though my weak pc will struggle at new titles like Witcher 3 , GTA 5 , AC UNITY , Far Cry 4 on 1080p

Yes it will be worth it.

Yes it will be nicer in 1080p. If your graphics card is struggling (which im not so sure that it should) then consider overclocking it, or running SLI?
Another thing you may consider which may make a bit of difference... have you kept the card clean? I mean if you have had it for a long time and never cleaned the dust out of it then it will run much hotter and in extreme cases this will cause it to throttle. (ie lag etc).

Also.. completely wiping all old graphics card drivers and installing new ones makes a nice FPS increase in some cases. I certainly know a few people who have had a good increase from this.

Be careful when buying a TV as opposed to a monitor, depending on the TV features, you may have resolution issues if there isnt an overscan feature. IF you dont need the TV part, then i would say go for a monitor, they are much cheaper and offer a whole load of other features that TVs dont which i wont go into here.
