You will need four or eight RAM sticks of the same type. i.e. 4 x 4 GB modules

So i cant just go buying two packs of 2 x 8 GB Ram and run them in Quad channel?

technically (as far as i know at least, i can be wrong though), you could buy single sticks (same specs/speed) and they will work. but to be sure, get those paired ones.

so you have an i7?

yes technically you can buy 4 1gb sticks for quad channel or 4 whatever size GB. The only reason for matched pairs or matched sets is the manufacture is saying however many sticks are in the pack 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and so on will work together with no problems at the speeds and voltage that are on the label.

Get the full amount in a single package, also freq and timings can be a thing to look for depending on what tou will be doing with the rig. For quad channel rigs, I'd look to Trident X, Ripjaws Z and the Snipers in that order
