I agree with Paul - I normally pay attention to the MHZ and that is about it :)  As long as it is DDR3 and 1333Mhz upwards you will fly :)

the most common ram now a days is 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 ram. This is slowly moving towards 1866mhz ram, but seems soon enough to be replaced with ddr4 ram.

unless your running memory taxing programs I normally will not go over 1600mhz for the ram but will try and find the lowest CAS possible.

What mobo and CPU, some work better with certain platforms....what you will be doing with the rig - gaming doesn't require fast DRAM where things like multi-tasking, video, imaging, etc benefit from faster sticks.....CL to freq difference i.e. 1600/8 is better than 1866/11 where 1866/9 would be slightly better than 1600/8....how much you want/need......let us know what mobo/CPU you have in mind and what you plan to do with the rig

Not sure what CPU, but it's X79, so would say minimum of 16GB in a 4x4GB config (or 32GB in a 4x8GB) and prob 1866/9. The GSkill Ripjaws Z or GSkill Snipers would be good choices
