Will adding 2GB of DDR3 from my Dell Studio XPS 1645 to my new HP 250 G2 cause any problems?

My question might be a bit specific. I have a Dell Studio XPS 1645 which has died for the second time, a video card problem that last time meant a new motherboard.

Anyway I've given up on that laptop, it had problems from day one and seemed to run much too hot (70c to 80c) on a permanent basis.

I bought a cheaper replacement, a HP 250 G2. The HP has 4GB Single-Channel DDR3, my question is can I take one of the 2GB DDR3 from the Dell and put it into the HP?

Will it cause any issues?

Thanks in advance.

There should be no problem, consumer products don't use proprietary RAM.

The only you need to consider, even when this doesn't impact performance, if the RAM sticks have different speeds (lets say 1333MHz and 1066Mhz) once installed they will run at the speed of the lower one (both will run at 1066MHz).
