Hi,
I've just bought a new notebook with a internal HDD and a emtpy msata slot, also I've bought a 120gb SSD msata card.

After the installation of win8.1 on the hdd I put the ssd into the slot, changed the sata mode in bios to "RAID" and used intel rapid storage-technologie to set up 64gb of the msata card as a cash to accelerate the main HDD.

My question is: Every FAQ and tutorial tells me to install windows AFTER chaning the SATA mode to RAID. I didn't do that. At the moment everything is working fine, but is that going to stay that way? Should I reinstall windows NOW, or just hope for the best?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Solution
My personal opinion is that you should wipe everything, start fresh, and do things differently. Install the OS on the SSD and forget about cacheing the hard drive. There's plenty of room on a 120 GB SSD for a system installation and some favorite games, and the result will be much more efficient than cacheing.

Yep, I agree with WyomingKnott. It's better to skip the caching and use it for the OS and programs alone. I don't even think you need an SSD for games except if they have plenty of loading time. But if you definitely want to do the caching - I think you should definitely reinstall the OS. You wouldn't want to reinstall everything after some time when things mess up.
