I want to install 2x8Gb now and 2x8Gb later upgrade into an Asus Z87 PLUS with an i7 4770K processor.

What speed, latency and make RAM would you guys suggest? I am a bit confused with all the products available out there. I don't have to go for the cheapest though!

Thanks!

If money isn't a constraint, I'd go with 2x8GB Trident Xes, excellent sticks both on stock and for OCing. Starts from 2133Mhz, pick the one you find best priced, I'd go for 2400MHz/ CL10.

Now, in general, for memory:

Gaming: anything above 1600MHz and below Cl11 is fine, 1.65V is fine (but avoid that in 1600mhz sticks).

Rendering/ Developing: Faster memory are better, preferably 2133MHz+.

Overall: Ripjaws X or Corsair LP for Gaming, Trident X for rendering (and gaming ofcourse), and Trident X is the best choice if you have the budget.

Also, IMHO, mixing sticks is not always a good idea, even if you take 2 identical pairs, chances are that they'll not work. Anyways, while buying sticks in future, make sure you get the same brand...
