I had a 2500k and a P8P67Pro B3 Mobo that recently died. The cpu light came on and the motherboard is toast. I swapped PSU, video card etc and it is dead. So I am looking to buy a replacement and I def think I should upgrade but I was curious to see if I should get the 5820k or the 4790k. I do a lot of work in premiere pro, ableton live, after effects, photoshop, illustrator etc and I have a GTX580SC video card. My question is the 5820k worth the upgrade price? I do game a little but I dont think it would be much different on either cpu for now.

I was thinking the 4790k upgrade and then upgrading my ddr3 ram to bump it to 16 may make a bigger difference then a 5820k and 8gb of ddr4.

Sounds good, I just want to make sure if hte extra couple hundred bucks is worth it to get the 5820k. It looks like I can get the 4790k and the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 ATX Intel Motherboard for about 409 vs 599 for the 5820k and mobo.
