So I have a windows 7 pc and the connection recently starting messing up but in a wierd way, i could do skype calls and stuff but i couldnt google things, the other devices on my connection are fine (which is how im writing this message) i did some searching and saw some stuff and decided to change my ipv4 properties ( control panel, network and internet, network and sharing center, change adapter settings, right clicked on my connection and pressed properties then selected ipv4 properties) and ticked the option "obtain dns server adress automatically", after that everything was fine. But after about 30 seconds to a minute it changed my ipv4 properties back to "use the following dns sever adress" with the preferred DNS server 127.0.0.1 and it stopped working again.

How can i permanently get rid of this 127.0.0.1

Let's first try a system restore to a restore point before this problem occurred. Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Sounds like spyware to me. It sounds like something quite nasty is changing the IPV4 settings to local DNS resolution, so that whatever it is has control of where your traffic is going. I'd start digging pretty deep on that, because IPV4 settings don't just change on their own, and they don't just re-route DNS resolution to your local machine on their own. Stinks to high heaven.

127.0.0.1 is the actual nic itself. If you can ping it, it means you nic is working properly. You must have malware. Download malwarebytes anti-malware, update it and run a scan. Quarantine all and reebot. Good luck

I tried the malwarebytes and quarantined everyhing and rebooted but no luck, I will only do the system reboot as a last resort, any other answers? Thanks.

That's really the only answer. Something 3rd party has to be making the change. Unless you're running a DNS server on that computer on purpose, which I seriously doubt, then something else is, which means something else is controlling where your traffic is going.

If it were me, and I mean if it were me, in the literal sense, not just a friendly "IF IT WERE ME!", if this happened to me and Malwarebytes and some antivirus scans didn't find and neutralize something tootsweet, I would nuke the Windows installation for orbit and reinstall. The ramifications of your DNS being resolved locally by an unknown source is pretty critical.

Another error i have is that most websites are blocked by bt parental controls even though i disabled them almost 24 hours ago, this might sound so so stupid but could it be because of the virus

Haha well there's your answer. Parental controls/web filter would do exactly this. Looks like you didn't uninstall it.

Yeah but the parental controls arent on any other device on the network

I guess I'm not sure what you're saying then. You said all the other computers work fine except for this one where it changes to 127.0.0.1. Is this the same computer you had the parental controls installed on that you think you uninstalled?

I uninstalled the parental ontrols from my internet (BT) which deletes parental controls from every device on the network

Looks like it didn't happen on this one is my guess.

Before i even turned the parental controls off i could access any website on other devices, so its not a parental controls error AGH THS IS SO ANNOYIG!

Tell me, did you put in static dns entries? 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Google's dns servers?

Try what reedo_43 is asking. try putting in those IP's and see if they stay or go back to the 127.0.0.1. If they stay, then, maybe ok. I'd still be wary. If it changes back to 127.0.0.1, then proceed with something more drastic.
