Where to buy a replacement code for windows 7 professional

Hi,

I have an Alienware m17 from mid 2009. I was having virus issues so thought I'd upgrade to 8.1. Yep. Not supported. Now I want to go back to 7 using the disks that came with the laptop originally but the sticker on the bottom only shows part of the code as it has rubbed away after years of use. I went to microsoft and they no longer do 7.

So, long and short of it. I have tried getting microsoft or dell to help me with the code. Both have said just purchase it where you can find it. (neither has it for sale). So, where can you guys direct me to find a retailer that sells a product code for windows 7 professional.

All help or suggestions are helpful. I do not want a pirated code and do not need a disk. Just need a new code so I can make my laptop function.

Have you contacted Alienware? You should be entitled to re-install the original OS.

You can buy OEM codes all over Ebay. I sell them there when I have them available from time to time. They're not always cheap though. They still run upwards of $100.

I did contact Dell because that's who had the alienware brand. And is listed in my m17 mobile manual. it is past warranty so they have been less than helpful.

Permanoob, I will look there as well.

I have the two disks that came with the system. one is the alienware windows professional 64 bit disc and the other is the alienware m17x resource dvd.

Normally when you have the discs that come with the system, they don't ask for the product key when you reinstall. They come with the generic OEM key from that manufacturer and it'll activate just fine, and the sticker is there for legal reasons. Not sure if you've tried that or not yet but that's a thought.

Also if Windows is still running you can retrieve the key it's currently installed with and you can see if it even matches up with what you can still see on the sticker. My guess is it doesn't. Use this and see what your current product key is: https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/
