Hi, I recently got a new wireless adapter that is the TP-LINK TL-WN881ND in my new computer build. I've been having problems connecting to my network which is run off a Netgear WNRD-3700 which I've had for several years. Everything else in my house is able to connect to the router perfectly fine, and my wireless adapter can connect to other routers, just not the specific one I use. I'll be a little more specific when it means "I can't connect." Some of the times it does allow me to connect, but recently it's been so severe that I haven't been able to connect at all. I've tried forgetting the network, reinstalling the driver, everything. Please help and say something if you know anything that could possibly help. Thanks!

Check for new firmware for both the adapter and the wireless card. Also try changing the security on the wifi network to open (not WEP or WPA/WPA2) and see if it can connect. Then enable security on the wifi network and see if you can connect..

Double check the correctness of the time and the timezone on the host in question. Having a system time too far off can cause problems.

Generally this effects windows update, connections to windows services, and windows domain controllers. I haven't seen this cause an issue with wireless networks because NTP sync isn't required for wifi... but it never hurts to check.

It will sometimes connect and sometimes not connect. I don't have a problem with the password I believe. When I try connecting to the network, it gets to where the green loading circle turns down below where the wifibars are and then it says "Unable to connect to Network" or something like that.

Are you using WPA/WPA2 ? I have had problems with specific adapters not connecting to WEP.

The card could be having a problem with the security protocol of the network even with the correct password. What we are doing here is attempting to rule things out until we find the issue. Check for firmware updates for the router & the card too.

Sorry didn't mean to press best solution, but I also have a wifi extender and I'm able to connect to that just fine... But not the actual network.

Sorry for the spam. I just checked my router firmware and it all seemed fine. Then i disabled my internet password and i was able to connect perfectly. Then i tried turning it back on and i have problems. So i can say my problem is with the WPA2-PSK [AES] security option. What do i do now?
