Is this a good setup to run most games? (I'm not planning on buying any games as extensive as, say, Watch_Dogs) I'm planning on getting a liquid cooling system for this case. Is this a good setup to upgrade in the future? Any comments on any specific piece of hardware? Thanks in advance!

Also, If anyone knows of a better price for any of these, do tell!

a better GPU. But at 1080p, a 750ti will get you medium/high settings in plenty of games. Some games will only run at medium.

An r9 270x for this build will run most games at high settings pretty easily at 1080p.

Your 750ti will be great for now though. No need to rush into upgrading.

1) R9 280X is future-ready.
2) You also need a better GPU. Probably the FX8320 at the price range.

No, then he would have to change motherboard. An i5 is what he would be upgrading to.

What series is R9? AMD? I prefer Nvidia, so I don't know much about AMD.

R9 is AMD.
And a i5 can work, FX would also work, both ways would be fine.

What would the R9 series equivalent to Nvidia be? As I said I'm a total n00b at AMD GPUs. I've used an AMD CPU, but not GPU.

The r9 280x competes with the gtx770.

Also, it would be stupid for him to get an AMD CPU as he would have to buy a new motherboard and reinstall Windows
