I have a router that is already hooked up and working but I have my old router and I was wanting to use it to extend my wifi range with my laptop. I am using the routers Netgear R6250 and my old router is a Netgear WGR614. I have the router hooked into to my laptop with an ethernet cable but I don't know how to make my new router use the old one as a repeater. If anymore information is needed please ask me! Thanks ahead of time to anyone who helps!

Should be in the manual, but here's a quick link:

You may need to update the FIRMWARE of the old unit as well.

There are also fairly inexpensive Wi-Fi extenders that simply plug into the wall and work fine. As cheap as $30.

Ok I have the router hooked up to my laptop so I could config. it but when I went to do so I couldn't get the (Internal Ip?) to work in the url bar. It is hooked up to my laptop correctly but it isn't connecting to the router.. I turned the wifi adapter off and enabled the local network connection as well and now it just says Unidentified network...

That route only support 802.11g so even if you could get it to work as a repeater you do not want to use it.

The router can only act as a source for traffic it has no ability to connect to another router. There may be third party firmware but it is really not worth the effort with a router that old.

If you can not get into the device when it is directly cabled you likely will have to factory reset it.
