I bought my computer for the purposes of gaming, and got a very good deal on it (it was custom-built). However, a few months into playing on it, it started to randomly crash on simple games. I talked to the guy that sold it to me, and we thought we fixed it but the problem is back, and even worse. Also, by crash, I mean to the point where the whole computer is frozen and I have to give it a hard reboot. It crashes on all types of games on all types of graphics, so it isn't an issue of hardware (Titanfall, Left for Dead, Minecraft, Killing Floor, Fallout 3, etc.). If someone could help me figure out what the problem is, and maybe fix it, that would be fantastic.

Thank you!

Edit: I don't really know that much about computer software. This is one of the first issues I've even had with my computers other than the occasional virus. Will resetting my BIOS mess with any of my saved data on my hard drives or anything?

try resetting bios to defaults, you would be surprised how often this simple fix works, could be an unstable overclock. Bios update sometimes helps too. also, make sure that all the dust is blown out of your case and that all connectors are seated properly.

Have you checked the temps on the GPU and CPU? That should throw a BSOD but I had a GPU overheat and it would just have a black screen.

The BIOS reset is also a good idea. You can download or look in your MOBO owners manual on how to do this.

I reset my BIOS to its default and now windows can't launch and the whole computer is messed up. How do I fix this?? I really don't want to have to do a system recovery.

This post is older, but in case for some reason, the person is still using it, I would suggest that the not being able to start may be from the drive boot order and priority. That is almost always reset with a BIOS reset. Make sure the BIOS is pointing to the drive with your installation as one of the boot drives.
