So I finally got around to playing good 'ol Skyrim and Fallout New Vegas tricked out as far as they could go with mods. Unfortunately, while they were mostly playable, they suffered from constant stuttering. Removing mods that created visual/object clutter or increased textures solved the issue, but I'd prefer being able to flawlessly play with such mods still installed. So considering my specs below, I was just wondering what you fine folks would suggest I look into replacing to help solve/alleviate the issue, not to mention letting me play newer games without too much issues. Some specific parts or ideas would be much appreciated, and as usual, thanks in advance for your input.

Motherboard: ASUS Rampage 3 Formula
Memory: 6GB
Processor: intel core i7 930
Hard Drive: 1TB hard drive
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 overclocked edition
Power Supply: Antec 1000W

Think that's all the info I should need. If I left anything out just let me know!

I have a 7970 (the 280x is just a re branded 7970 with a few tweaks), and I average right around 60 fps in BF4. Just to give you an idea of performance.

I have no idea how demanding skyrim is, so I can't tell you what performance you will get.

Honestly, no. I'm not actually too knowledgeable on what SLI does, so I never really thought about it. Would a 2nd GTX be a more sensible choice than placing a more expensive, but more powerful card instead?

Hmm... something in the $200-250 range if I can get away with that.
