Unlikely.

We don't have enough information either.

1) Must be the same SOCKET
2) The laptop BIOS must also have the CPU listed

Other:
If you want to make your laptop a bit snappier, then there are a few options depending on the hardware you have:
a) clone from an HDD to an SSD,
b) upgrade to Windows 8 (made a huge difference going from Vista). Interface issue solved with Start8.
c) add more System Memory

it is the same socket both are S1 socket. I looked at the bios revision available through Gateway and I doesn't show any Processors support and i am not sure where to look. The Latest revision looks like 9A30B . The System is a MD2614u it is currently working with a Turion 64 rm72 ruffly 2.1 ghz. I want to upgrade to quad core and a 2.4 GHz

I agree that this is unlikely to work, and could end up toasting the motherboard or the CPU.
