I recently bought this ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

I plan on overclocking this ram to 1866 when it arrives.

I also plan on buying this: http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-HyperX-FURY-2x4GB-1866MH...
Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1866MHz

Three specific questions:
1. Does 1600 ram overclocked to 1866 function the exact same way as if i purchased it @ 1866?
2. Will these ram work @ 1866 if I overclock the 1600 to 1866 and leave the other as is? Is that even possible?
3. Is it worth it to overlock the 1600 ram to 1866 anyways?

it is possible but I wouldn't recommend mis-matching ram, some ram can be very grouchy with other companies ram... not saying all ram is but quite a few don't like being mismatched

Concur with the "not a good idea" sentiment.

What mobo and CPU? The Kingston are different as far as DDR3 goes, about 99.9 percent of all DDR3 operates under XMP profiles, where as the Fury's run under PnP and then only with certain chipsets, while it's not a good idea to try and mix, if you do, be prepared to possibly have to manually set the sticks up regardless..whether you try and run them all at 1600 or whatever (and all HAVE to run at the same settings)

Could try, I wouldn't by choice, but if that's all that's available, give them a try, if you have troubles, give me a call and we can try some voltage/timing adjustments and can probably get them to play
