Hi everyone, i have recently encountered a problem that i have never seen before. After a normal session using my pc (browsingwebs and playing games) i cliced shut down and it instantly restarts. i dont know whybut it starts from the asus loading screen till the windows loading screen. After it loads, it jumps back to the asus loading screen and keeps on looping. i tried the win 8.1 instal disk and try the startup repair. but it was a no go. then i tried the cmd and unplugging the power socket to clear out the cmos. still after 8 hours, the same thing happens. it didnt show any text or error messages just the loading icon. did someone happen to have this problem and fixed it. i am avoiding to refresh or reinstall. thnx in advance

It still doesn't work, should I create a boot disk for safe mode?

Unplugging the power wont clear the CMOS. You have to remove the CMOS battery for 30 secs or a min then put it back in. Then reconfigure the BIOS settings

You didnt flash the BIOS recently did you?? Because some BIOS updates can be buggy (and if they're beta updates). And can do strange things.

I did this once, it kept looping on the post screen, never got to windows, and it never got as far as the loading screen. After so many reboots it ended up with a corrupt BIOS

Lucky for me its an ASUS so I could reflash it back to the previous BIOS update

Disable the logo in the BIOS. So, you can see what it's doing / saying. And it can take longer for it to boot into windows

I would also check to make sure the hdd is the bootdisk in the BIOS. If its on cd, it can add another 20 seconds to the boot time

Didn't do anything to my bios. All I did was press the shut down button and immediately it keeps on restarting and until after the windows logo was gone it starts the loop from the asus logo and keeps on repeating. I am not sure if it is my mouse or keyboard.

It's possible that this maybe caused by a win8 update. From the botched updates in August, or July wasnt it??

Since one of them did cause restart loops

Did you update this recently and were there updates from last month or july??

No the loop started yesterday after I shut down my pc. Don't know if it's my ssd or what. But I am pretty sure it's windows. Can't even use the system restore point. Btw the restore point was created when windows did the update
