Below is a recurring sequence of events of my modem (not wireless router):

TP-Link TD-8861
4 lights; Power, LAN, ADSL, INTERNET
- connected to - Dlink Dir605l

Solid POWER light, blinking LAN light, off ASDL and INTERNET for 30 seconds. Blinking LAN stops for 2 seconds then starts again, at this point the ADSL light beings to blink as well. Approx. 25 seconds later the ADSL light becomes solid and the Internet light begins flashing quickly, the LAN light is still blinking.

My internet connection is now active at tthis point for about 4 minutes, it then ceases to work but the ADSL and INTERNET lights remain the same. 3-4 minutes of this then the cycle reverts back to a solid POWER and flashing LAN light. Internet connection is no longer active.

I have tried resetting, rebooting, rewiring, and firmware updates but nothing seems to fix the problem. Further, I have contacted my ISP and they told me it is no fault on their end, my connection is operational and functioning as it should. Lastly, My connection was working perfectly fine the day before, absolutely nothing, to the extent of my knowledge, has changed during the time period. Sooo, I'm asking the TH community, what's going on with this!? Any help is greatly apprecitacted. :D

Connect your computer directly to the modem, log into the modem's management interface and go check what your DSL line stats are. If you have something like 10dB SNRM on upstream and downstream (preferably more) then the line sync should be ok. My next guess would be the power brick or something else power-related having trouble and causing the modem to restart.

Hey, thank you for your reply. I have checked the downstream and the line sync is fine. Further, I have changed outlets multiple times for both my router and modem,no difference there... Do you have any other suggestions for me? Thanks again!

If the line stats look fine when the modem decides to reboot, then the problem is either with the modem itself, its power brick or possibly the port on the DSLAM. The easiest way to either confirm or rule out the modem as a possible issue would be to try a different one: if you switch the modem out and problems go away, you now know your modem was part of the problem but not exactly why.
