I am planning on getting the AMD FX-6350, and I'm just wondering how much of a difference that will make for gaming while watching a movie and/or video editing with After Effects vs the AMD Athlon x2 250.

Current Specs:
-AMD Athlon x2 250 (dual core)
-8GB Vengeance RAM
-GTS 250 (upgrading around Christmas)

Thanks in advance :)

(P.S: I'm new to this website, and am not sure on how to reply to comments on a mobile)

If you have an AM3+ socket MB, it will make a nice difference. I can't give you numbers, but this GAMING hierarchy chart should give you an idea of the difference...

If you can afford it, the FX-8320 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YU56 would make a much better choice for all that multitasking with it's extra cores/threads. It's also one of the best performing CPU's for the money.

Alright, luckily it's only £5 more, thanks for the advice :)

Well, multi tasking while gaming? Gaming while watching a movie? What are you going to do? If you will play internet games while watching a movie your current CPU is fine but if you will play BF4 while watching a movie, your CPU can cope up but not at its best. (I bet you`re not going to do this, do you?)

Video editing while watching a movie also sucks, you cannot focus on your work if you will do this.

Best to describe multi tasking is designing in 2D CAD while rendering in 3D CAD. In this case you will be needing the i7s.

Gaming while watching a movie doesn`t make any sense.

Well, I occasionally watch a movie or TV show on one of my other monitors. I mainly listen to it play in the background while either working, or gaming. I was just wondering how effectively I could handle those tasks simultaneously, without noticeable frame drops/stuttering. :)
