Download and install AVAST antivirus

run a boot scan on set up

How do you know its a virus?

it is malware .

comes in various versions

and installs in a windows folder so it starts with windows

I used my friend google .

Because itss part of the boot process Im picking a bootscan that kills it before it loads is the only way

sm.exe is also a legitimate Windows file. The virus version uses its name. So he could have either. I'm asking how he knows which one he has?

You should find it in C:\Windows\System32. You'll need to use Properties and show Hidden. If you find it, try deleting it or at least changing its name.
