Hello,

Recently, I have attempted to swap my current HDD to SSD on my Dell Inspiron 15R Laptop. It currently has a 1tb WD 5400 rpm drive; I am trying to swap it with a Samsung 84- EVO 500gb SSD. After cloning my HDD to SSD using Acronis True Image, I swapped the HDD with the SSD. The problem is that the motherboard cannot locate windows boot from the SSD in the bios. Everytime the laptop starts, it shows a black screen that reads "Checking Media [Fail]."

Do I need to do a fresh install of windows to get the SSD working?

Much Thanks.

If you use Acronis True Image, set the parition copy to Manual, this will keep the 100MB system partition the same size and fill the rest of the drive with the C drive.

I did this yesterday, you should not need to change the parition sizes with the manual option, but just double check it.
