I'm working on a friends computer that already has W7 Ultimate installed but it won't connect to the net using my wired LAN. I ran the troubleshooter and the resultant message said W7 could not connect to the DNS server. There are several other computers on this LAN that don't have this or any problems. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

I don't know. I'm pretty lost in W7.

There is an IP address if that's still the question. The only thing that looks out of the ordinary to me is four entries called "tunnel adapters" which all say "media disconnected". I've never heard of a tunnel adapter.

192.168.0.181

FYI, I have tried reinstalling the LAN driver. No difference. I also tried the e-mail program and it can't find the server either.

I tried something else that has me thinking this box has a hardware problem. I replaced the HDD with a known good one and tried to do a fresh install of W7 Ultimate. It hung twice in the same place. Sounds like hardware to me. Maybe the MB.

can you enter the 206.13.30.12 as a DNS server IP under the network card's properties?
