Hello Everyone!
I was about to order a new video card (have another thread discussing that) and now all of the sudden one of my ram slots has died......I tested each module in each ram slot and it's obviously the channel and not the sticks, so now I'm stuck with a few new problems.......

Before my dilema here is what I have:

-AMD Phenom IIx4 955
-6gb Memory (Usually 8 lol.....4x2)
-Asrock 870 Extreme 3 Motherboard....

I know the Phenom has some kick left in it, so I'm wondering if I should just get a new ram kit and use 2 slots instead of 3.......My System doesn't seem to have slowed down but it's annoying having only 3 slots used instead of 4.

My next thought is to just upgrade the motherboard to an AM3+ Motherboard that will support my current CPU and will allow me to upgrade to an FX chip later.........

Problem with that is that I bought this computer on craigslist (Crazy I know)....and it has a bootleg copy of Windows 7........I cant afford the New Mother Board AND a Retail version of Windows.......

Can I "Plug and Play" my SSD into the new motherboard. I currently use the SSD as a boot drive, and HD for storage.....

I feel like the computer building is one step forward....5 steps back, it's really frustrating.
