The hyper 212 evo is the goto cooler for most builds. If you specify if you will overclock your cpu and what cpu you are using, we could help more.

Here's a review on the V8 GTS .... very nice looking, bit weak on performance to my eyes.
http://benchmarkreviews.com/4608/cooler-master-v8-gts-1...

The "Big 3" have been, in order of performance, the Phanteks PH-TC14-PE, Thermalright Silver Arrow and Noctua DH-14..... The Phanteks performs slightly better in most reviews and definitely wins in the price and looks department.... you can buy various colors to match ya components. Usually $60 - $65 on newegg, sometimes spikes up to $75 and then comes back down.

Below that, there's not much on this side of the pond, the Hyper 212 will give ya 7 - 10C less cooling but has a great priced at $30. I use it in builds w/ budgets under $1200.

If ya wanna go AIO water cooling, none of the 120/140 mm units do as well as the less expensive air coolers so they don't make sense. If ya gonna go over $100 and get a 240/280mm, there's the H22-X from Swiftech .... and everything else that can't come close.

Hmmm. I probably forgot to mention that I might choose little more on the aesthetics side. And I'm planning to cool a 4790k

Post your computer specs. Case Etc. Then a real recommendation can be made.

4790 is what I was looking for when I asked what I did, if you want nice looking closed loop such as h80 or better works well enough but looks pretty sweet. Otherwise a lit of the larger reasonably priced coolers that dont cost a around 100 dollars have come off the market. Mugen 2 and 3 for example or xigmatech gia nzxt frio or cm v6gt, now phantecs has some nice looking coolers around 50 but they are no better than the boring looking cm hyper 212 evo, but they cost 20 dollars more.

How about this?

cools better wnd looks cooler.

I assumed the 4790k / 4790k when I answered above. Mostly depends what ya wanna spend:

$30 Hyper 212....

$50 .... The Hyper 612 was a great mid price cooler but it faded away with the Phanteks bouncing down to the $60 price point every now and then.

$60 - $80 - Looks wise, the Phanteks is real nice white one on a white case with black MoBo looks especially "haaaawwwwt". Doesn't hurt that it's the best performer and cheapest of the big 3.

You also have the single fan (120/140) AIOs in this category but since none of them can tough the Big 3 thermally, I don't see the point.

$90 - $110 ... The Cryorig R1 and DH-15 sit here and are the new kings of the hill for air coolers. They are comparable to the two fan (240/280) AIOs

But if I was gonna spend $110 for a Kraken or H110 .... I'd move up to the Swiftech which uses $230 of real custom loop components and makes an AIO out of them for $140. But ion this case, it's copper not aluminum, it's open loop versus closed loop, it adds a reservoir and observation window, it's 1/4 as load as a H100i and it tops every Air and AIO cooler on the market .... looks good too :)
