OK so here's the deal.. I currently have a higher end laptop that I play all my games on. I can run most games on high settings and get 25-35 fps. I'm looking to build my first desktop as my laptop is aging and starting to have hardware issues. OK so what I'm looking for is a hopefully future proof high end rig. I want to run next gen games like the Witcher 3 on ultra settings with a nice consistent framerate. (60+ would be great!) The budget is workable as I'm still saving up. I was hopefully looking for the $1-2k price range. Ideally I can have a working system quicker and cheaper by cutting back on things like ram and upgrading in the future. I also could buy a single gpu and later upgrade to sli (thoughts?). I'll state now that I'm partial to Intel and Nvidia is a must. I'D also like to be able to run a 4k monitor in the future. As for cooling, I know the bigger the beast the more cooling required but I'm a little afraid of a liquid system leaking and ruining my rig :O...I also want to run my OS and games on a SSD as the benefits are obvious. What I need help with is choosing the best parts for my goals. I've been looking at the new x99 boards and the i7-5960x but I'm not sure this is the way to go and it's definitely pricey...Asside from all the defective x99 mobo's I've been hearing about. So if someone is kind enough to help me create a build, even if it's just a guideline build I'll much appreciate it.
To sum it up, I want a rig that will be upgradeable and last me a while, and also be powerful enough to run next gen games with All the bells and whistles without struggling.
I have picked through parts but I'm not sure how to compile a good build or ensure everything is compatable. Any help is much appreciated.
