So for some reason, my cpu fan has started to run at an astounding 6490 RPM average.
I have change both the CPU fan and System fan to run on "Silent" in BIOS with no change. I also tried to pick the lowest manual setting, but it was already on it, so naturally nothing changed. I downloaded SpeedFan, and all temperatures are normal. GPU is between 38 and 48. Never seen it higher. Not sure how to adjust speeds with that program. However, tried adjusting the speeds in the motherboard utility called "EasyTune6", but when I change the settings, nothing happens. Even if I reboot after each and every change/attempt, nothing changes. The friend of mine who built the computer has been trying to help out, but neither of us can figure out why the fan is doing this. My windows power options are set to balanced, and I changed in the advanced settings the "system cooling preference" err, something along those lines from "Active" to "Passive", and then tried to perform the changes in the other programs again, to no effect. I even tried taking the side of the PC off and putting a fan directly onto the CPU fan... but nothing changed.
I am at a loss as to why this is happening and would really appreciate some help!
