Is everything working correctly?

Hi all

So I've just finished my first build and everything seems to be runnining ok (which feels like a miracle). I've upgraded to a new case, a Z97 MSI Gaming 3 mobo, a Asus GTX 760 and an i5 4690k. I've also got a cx600 Corsair PSU and used the remaining components from a factory built pc.

Now as I newbie to this, I'm obviously a little paranoid that I may have missed something along the way. It may be a daft question, but is there any way of checking that all components etc are fitted and performing as they should?

I believe I did everything correctly when fitting the CPU, including thermal paste, but it was very stiff when I pushed the latch back down and made a creaking noise - is this normal?

I am running Windows 8 and was pleasantly surprised when I didn't need to do a fresh install when booting the new build up again for the first time. I've also updated to all the new drivers.

Many thanks in advance

Run a version of 3D mark or some other burn in test software for 2 hours or so. If nothing crashes and you get no errors, probably the safest bet to assume you have a stable system :)
