Here is a real good one guys. Today I noticed my internet wont connect to my PC via ethernet. I've checked with many cables, including a new one so thats not the problem. Also checked the modem and router with other computers and they work great. Wireless also works on the router. So it HAS to be something to do with my PC. Tried updating drivers, resetting IP, literally everything I could think to do. After all the frustration I did a full clean install of windows 8, and surprise! Still no internet. I cannot possibly think of anything except the ethernet port itself has gone bad. But, the strange thing is, my PC still says I'm connected to the internet, but I get no internet access. PLEASE. HELP.

Do you have any firewalls installed on your laptop that might be blocking the connection. When you run an ipconfig /all do all the ip addresses look correct. Can you ping your routers IP from the computer and you ping google.com from the computer?

Firewalls are completely off. When I run ipconfig /all it all looks fine, but I suppose I don't really know what to look for. Is there an easy way to "ping" my router? Again, the router works with everything else, even an hardline and wireless connection. The problem is coming my the PC, and Im thinking its bad hardware. Thanks again

When you run ipconfig /all the ip address associated with your default gateway should be your router. See if you can ping that, if you can then try to ping google.com and see how that goes.
