Hey guys, I've had an EVGA Superclocked GTX-780 for about 2-3 months now which has ports for a 6-pin and 8-pin cable\s to power it. My main question is whether it is better to run a single y-cable for both the 6 and 8-pin sockets or two separate cables.

Bonus question: I also would like to buy individually-sleeved cables for it to make things look neater so I was wondering if anyone knows where to get an 8 pin to 8 pin individually-sleeved extension for a graphics card? I've been able to find 6-pin to 8 and 6 to 6. I'm not too sure on the ins and outs of how to match them up and what to pick. If anyone has any tried and true choices as far as this goes I'd be happy to hear them.

Thanks in advance guys :)

If the 12v rail you're plugging that Y-cable into has enough amps on it you'll be fine.

If you have multiple 12v rails the cables are often split up amongst them because a single rail can't power the card on it's own, so make sure a single rail can take the load.

EDIT: Sort of sleeved extension cable, I'll keep looking: http://www.quietpc.com/na-8pin-pcie-extension-ss

EDIT: Green too: http://www.amazon.com/Bitfenix-Alchemy-Multisleeve-8-Pi... This is all just from a Google search for pcie 8 pin extension sleeve
EDIT And blue: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/15450/cab-789/Bitfeni... Pretty much got the entire rainbow now.

If you have a single 12v rail power supply over 600W you should be able to use a splitter. But it'd look crappier than just two cables from the power supply anyway.

Would it be preferable to use two separate cables though? (a 6 pin and an 8 pin) I remember a friend mentioning something about more "stress" using a single y-cable. Also for reference, I'm using an EVGA Supernova 850 G2 psu so a little overkill for a single 780 but yeah haha.

Btw, thanks a lot for those links, really thankful for covering the multiple colours as well :)

Your PSU has a good 70A on it's (single) 12v rail so that won't a problem.

I've heard about voltage drops on PCIe splitters, more so than on single cables. It shouldn't be a huge problem but if you can I'd recommend using two separate cables, just to be safe.
