so, i have this problem for a while now, that my computer shuts down automatically while playing ONLINE games only. i was able to play Sims 3, Darksiders2, Ninja gaiden z, all in max resolution and graphics for hours, but whenever i play LOL or Hearstone it shuts down only after 10-15 mins....
i was also able to download torrents without problem....

I already tried to replace other parts of my computer that was mentioned in other threads like the power supply, thermal paste, processor heat sink, and added CPU fans. I've also installed thermal monitoring software, and the temp is about 50-60C, but the problem was never resolved. I've also done some stress tests on the RAM,video card and processor with no problems..... please help me

Intel core i7- 2.8GHz
8GB RAM
Intel motherboard
NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT
650 watt Corsair VS650
Cooler master Hyper 212X - CPU heat sink

Whenever a restart/shut down occurs make note of what time of day it is, then when you get the PC back on open event viewer and look under windows logs > system and windows logs > application and see if any errors appeared when the restart happened...

Are you using on-board LAN or an expansion card?

to JeckeL .... an error "eventID 10" has been has been found where in the source is WMI ...
I really can't understand but it says under the general tab...
Event filter with query "SELECT" FROM_InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 90' could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until problem is corrected.

.... Im using my on-board LAN by the way

Were there any other errors? Especially under windows logs > system? I can't imagine that there wouldn't be a critical error or two in there if your system randomly crashed

ok, now I'v deleted the previous GPU driver using the DDU, but i failed in re-installing the driver manually. because after the start up, windows automatically installed the driver for the videocard. I hope it's ok.... well I'm about to test it again, and see if it still shuts down....

does it have something to do with the DNS server? cause it only happens while playing online games, cause one time when my computer shut down due to this problem there were no errors found in the event view under systems, only warnings regarding the DNS client domain.....

DNS, tcp-ip, etc errors in event viewer are a common occurrence and can't really cause power loss... The only other thing I can think of would be memory, do you have multiple sticks of RAM such that you can switch them around in case the stick in slot 1 is bad? Have you ran memtest at all?

Does your PC have a lot of dust in it? I would also make sure there is nothing loose bouncing around inside your case (i.e. screws that could short out the electrical components)

One other thing I would try is right click on Computer, go to properties, then go to advanced system settings. Under Startup & Recovery go to settings and under System Failure uncheck "Automatically Restart"... this probably won't help but it's worth a try

You could also try reinstalling drivers for your onboard LAN. If windows is reinstalling drivers automatically upon restarting you can disable that by following these instructions: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2500967
