I am building a new PC and I need a video card I thought that I would get a GTX 770 have had really good feedback from lots of people who I trust°, but I need help to pick an exact card. I will be buying a 24inch 1080p monitor 1-4 months after the pc. Right now I have a 720p mointor. I will not be going into 4k jet but I in the future I might SLI and then buy a 4k monitor.

Here are the cards that are around my price range (local stores)(lowest price to highest) Only brands that I trust (no Zotac Gainward or even more obscure brands)

ASUS GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770, 2GB DDR5 (256 Bit), HDMI, DP, DVI, BOX
MSI GeForce GTX 770 OC, 2GB DDR5 (N770-2GD5/OC)
GV-N770WF3-2GD / NVIDIA Geforce GTX 770/ PCI-E 3.0 / 2GB GDDR5 / 256-bit / Memo 7010 MHz
GV-N770WF3-4GD REV.2 / NVIDIA Geforce GTX 770/ PCI-E 3.0 / 4GB GDDR5 / 256-bit / Memo 7010 MHz

Rest of the pc build:
CPU: I7-4790k
MOBO: Gigabyte gaming 5
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb
PSU: Seasonic M12II Bronze 750 750W 80 Plus
HDD: 1tb
SSD: adding later

I would say the two that can compete with each other is the Asus and Gigabyte.

Personally I llan to get the Asus because it has better cooling. Don't be fooled by the two fans on it.

Although Gigabyte has 3 fans and a slightly higher clock speed. It doesn't matter much in gaming as the frames aren't that bif. If there was a difference in frame, then it will most likely be about 1-5 frames or even less or no frame difference at all.

Don't forget if you do want the Gigabyte, it is pretty long and you will need a case that supports it.

You would be crazy to buy a 770 now with the new 900 series being announced today. Hold on for the new cards.

Those cards will most likely be very expensive plus with them coming out there will be a price cut for the 770

What are you basing that on?

When ever ive seen new cards come out, their release price is a little more expensive (but also more performance, less power consumption, less heat, less noise etc), but the old cards dont tend to get price dropped, they just get discontinued.

You would be crazy to buy the 770 now at them prices, its just the GTX 680 overclocked a bit, which came out in 2012.

Its obviously your choice, but the soon to be release 960 will likely out perform the 770 for less money. The 970 will be similar cost for more performance.

The 960 does not support sli tho so I won't be able to upgrade to 4k without replacing the video card

Crossfire is AMD only, you are thinking of SLI.

How do you know the 960 doesnt support SLI? its not out yet... The 660 and 760 supported SLI...

Also, 2x 770 in SLI isnt enough to play well at 4k anyway. Hell, even 2x 780 ti struggles with 4k!

The OEM GTX970 is poised to be priced at $299. Tell me that isn't worth waiting for? It also has 4GB of VRAM, which you will want for newer games and future games. Wait a day, as they are released tomorrow. The 770 sucks 230W of power where as the 970 is 148W. You could get away with a 600W PSU run (2) 970 and OC the snot out of the 4790K easily. The 970 is supposed to perform at or greater than the current GTX780.

Here is a thread with a bunch of links as they become available.
