Well it looks like a great build. For the tasks you plan on doing more RAM wouldn't hurt. Go for 16gb.. If you are content with the 8gb then I suggest split your ram instead of single channel run 2x4gb. It's got the making a great machine. I have the I7 4790k too it's a great CPU.

Running your ram in single channel will dramatically slow your performance in everything. Either get a 2x4gb kit and run it in dual channel or stop being cheap and get the 2x8gb kit for 16gb of ram. 8gb is enough, but dont be surprised in a year or two when newer games start filling that memory up really fast. Memory is never a waste of money.

Also there is no advantage to running single channel. Given DDR3's lack of compatibility, it's pretty unlikely that if you buy a second stick later that it will work with the stick you already have, even if it is the same brand and model.

So if i get another 8GB stick, it will not work?

Probably not. As Tradesman explains it, if you pull ten modules off a production line four might work together and the rest goes into one and two module packs. If you then add in different brands, timings etc the chances of it working are even further reduced.
