I cant get my settings right for gigabyte board with "Gsata2" controllers and intel controllers onboard. MAYBE....
Maybe another driver or setting?
Have legit win8pro/win8.1pro/win7ult discs here, have created many WinPE vanilla through to more complex, trying to inject drivers prior to windows freezing, but it all seems random to me.

Solution
Crashing as in bluescreening or a loss of power?

Do you happen to have another drive you can test installing windows with? Or perhaps try your drive in another system with the same disks/usb you are using now and see if that crashes?

edit: ah you editted your post as I was typing. So its not the drive then, and theres nothing wrong with your medium as you are suing various disks/usb drives. Hmm, I'll keep thinking on it and get back to you.

I have the x64 versions the mother board is an x64 board, I have more luck with usb installation as it seems to get further into it, but the setup just stops abrubtly with no message and freezes.

GA-P35-DS3 Motherboard
E6550 Intel Core2 Duo CPU
It used to run windows 8 fine but I am freeing up the windows 8 licence for my other laptop and installing windows 2012 R2 Essentials if all goes well
So far I have tried Many methods and spent two days on it.
The mother board runs intel ich9 southbridge sata ports and also gigabyte sata2 ports.
Im prob wasting time as might be something else.
It can read and partition the drives, it writes the windows structure and some files then goes to sleep.

What board is it and we are going to need more information on what you've tried and the results you got. No use suggesting things you've already tried, right?

Maybe try 32bit just for kicks and see how far that gets, IIRC 775 sockets didn't really have much of a use for x64 so the drivers were/are often times a bit buggy/non-existent.

I have tried everything.....
Installing from USB any OS crash randomly at different points in the setup.
Installing from DVD OS crashes sometimes before I enter the prod key, sometimes when selecting drives to install on
Have tried shiftF10 and manually pushing drivers through, have tried WinPE's with drivers injected I create on my laptop Win8.1

note I have many different USB sticks and different harddrives this has been tested on.
Just hoping someone had simmilar Proband knew an easy fix. I could end up spending the week on this one i think.

No but I installed the win 8.0 on a laptop earlier no prob, it used to live on this media server I'm now trying to install MSserver on.
At this point its frozen on the Setup is Starting Blue screen, after prod key and privacy agreement.
The win 7 does allow me to use the install driver option, although it can see the drive and partition and format it.... but then randomly stops near the end of setup.
