Crossfire locks up PC

So recently I've upgraded my gaming computer short of the graphics card. I figured that I would wait until Black Friday to see what will go on sale. In the meantime I got my hands on a second Radeon HD 6850 card for $40 bucks and figured I would crossfire until I can find a good deal on a better card. I deleted all drivers, installed the card, updated all drivers, shutdown, installed second card and rebooted. The PC detected the card with no errors. I shutdown then connected the bridge and rebooted and the system detected the card. I enabled crossfire in the AMD software.
I ran the Heaven benchmark and my FP's almost doubled compared to when I would deselect the crossfire. But I've tried 4 different games now and there's not been any performance increase at all. Plus the entire computer has locked up while just sitting in idle multiple times. The cards I have are different brands (One sapphire and one Gigabyte) so the clocks are slightly off. Below are my current specs and any help is appreciated
