Damage to motherboard connection on GeForce 8800GT

There is some wear (gold worn away near the ends) on a couple of the gold connections where the card connects to the motherboard. This might be the reason why the graphics are clear, with several wide vertical bands corrupt (?), distorted (?) data. Is there a DIY fix for this?

Of course the poor graphics might be another problem altogether. The graphics became wonkie without any tampering of the card. The damage was only noticed when the card was removed.

Could you take a picture and post here for us to look at? This would help determine if you have a issue or not.

From what I can see, those "fingers" are okay. That "missing" part is normal.

What make/model of power supply and motherboard are you using?

Keep in mind that the 8800GT is an older card and this could just be a defective GPU.

Yes it is an old card. I has performed fine up until recently. I installed it in two completely different PCs with the same result. I was hoping not to have to replace it.
