How can i power my GTX 680? (needs 8 pin)

I just bought a new Aerocool Templarius 550W PSU to replace my old 450W, it comes with 6+2 Pin PCI-E, they are 6 pins pci but with a small 2 pin extension that you can use, will this work as an 8 pin pci for my GTX 680, i just want to make sure so i don't burn out the cables, which is what happened with my old PSU (it was a crappy cheap chinese one). thanks.

Yes that will be fine, that's why they make the 6+2 pin for 8pin sockets.

The same is gonna happen to your current PSU if you don't get a better one. 550W, that too from Aerocool, not worth risking to connect a 680 into. Just get a refund and get a 600W+ PSU from SeaSonic/ Antec/ XFX/ EVGA.

Yes, a 6+2 is the same as a 8 pin.

Not sure about that Aerocool psu you have bought though, I dont think that is a good make, and if its only got 1 6+2pin cable, I wouldnt use it with a gtx 680. My 680 requires a 6+2(8)pin and a 6pin.

That PSU is not good at all. Using it to power a 680 you risk damaging the computer and possibly burning your house down. That unit is made by a company called andyson who is one of the worst psu manufactures there is.

I am hopeful you can, look at Amazon return policy page, I'm not from usa so I might be wrong here, but as far as amazon goes, you should be able to get a refund or atleast a refund coupon.

Also, I'm certain you'd want to get the new psu from amazon right?

Under $60 the best you can get wattage/price wise with good quality in mind is EVGA 600B.

The ~600w psu are Seasonic s12ii 650w and Xfx 650w core edition. Rosewill hive and capstone are fine quality too.

I wouldn't touch the Corsair VX, CX, or CS series due to poor capacitors.

its not a VX, CX or CS its a VS550 and its either that or the aerocool and the VS550

I second bignastyid here, XFX is made by SeaSonic which makes amongst the best PSUs, lot better than the Corsairs mentioned.

The Corsair VS550 would be better than the aero cool. Should be fine to power it, its not high quality, but still better than aero cool.
