PC boot failure

So lately my PC is having trouble powering up. I'll push the button and the LED will light and the fans start spinning and within 2 seconds it shuts down. Fans slow, LED off. After maybe 3 seconds it starts to power up again on it's own and shuts off again in a couple seconds. This cycle will continue endlessly until I unplug the PC or hold the power button in for 5 seconds or so. Ideas?

First guess would be the power supply going south on you.

I should also include that sometimes I can get it to fully boot up and if I put it in sleep mode it will power back on.

Follow your instincts Luke...Power supplies do not always just fail outright. They wear out over time. Whats you pc specs and current power supply?

That is a good unit. I would be surprised if it was failing so soon. What about GPU?

I do not. I may try the paper clip test and see if that tells me anything.
