Hey guys building a system with i7 4790 under 800$

Solution
i7 4790 without iGPU = E3 1231 v3 with i5 price !
any way you can tell us what specs you have in your country then we choose good MB :)
there is another build with what you want and I put GTX 660 for CUDA so give me your feedback

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal...
agreed.

for $800 and an i7-4790 you're going to be stuck with using integrated graphics.

this is fine if your system will not be for gaming and will be for such tasks as video editing, general use and the like.

if you are gaming however there are better ways to spend $800 such as using an i5 and using the extra $100-150 for a video card

Agreed i5 + $200 GPU will be much much better then an i7 + $50 GPU for gaming.

For a video encoding box, you are doing right with a powerful cpu.

For a fast office or multi tasking PC that is not gaming, an i5 + SSD drive is the best use of your budget

So in short it all comes down to what you are using the PC for.

a few tweaks perhaps...

if you dropped to a 1tb hdd and used a slightly cheaper case you could upgrade the gpu a bit perhaps.

perhaps then the i5-4690 is in budget as well then too.

on the second if you did the same you may be able to get a 280x/770 in the build.

@ Everyone hey guys i dont need it for gaming.. I need it for video editing and general use like ssddx said. Also i dont need a windows.. Already got one.. and i am particular about i7 4790 guys.. Please help guys.. Thanks

divine,

you need to check if your video editing software is gpu accelerated or not. in many cases they are not and are mostly cpu driven where a gpu only serves to make playback less choppy. if however it is gpu accelerated then you could benefit from a better card.

the build below assumes you do not need a gpu for playback so i only have a low end one included for non-choppy performance. it is 4k capable.

i have 16gb of ram in case you were encoding 4k video. otherwise you might be able to make do fine with 8gb.

i also have 2 hard drives since when encoding from one drive to another drive (source and destination) times are going to be less.

the power supply is overkill but with MIR its a good buy at the moment. otherwise any unit from xfx or seasonic around the 500w range is fine (even less is needed but i didnt do a calc to see just how low so this is a safe off the top of the head number).

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tBRh23 its just a touch over your budget.

if you benefit from gpu acceleration then i'd drop the one hard drive and bump up the gpu to something better.

actually... the xeon based build listed by anton would also work very well, perhaps with a bit of modification. perhaps bump up the ram, go with a cheaper case and bump down the gpu and it works good.

the xeons are basically the same thing as the i7s but without integrated graphics which means less money for the same thing. if you are already using a graphics card then it doesnt really matter if you are missing this or not. your call of course.

Hey thanks for ur build. But i'm happy with 8gp of ram and 1 hard disk... Can u bump up the graphic card and change the motherboard please
(suggested motherboard not available in my country).. and why do i need a cpu cooler? is this i7 4790 a overclockable cpu (sorry a noob question.. new to hardware details>.<) Cant i use a stock cooler? Other than that this build is perfect..

Droping the RAM to 8GB will make that build around $815-825, so it is a really good build.
The extra $50 for the second hard drive will provide you with a performance bump in rendering vs 1 drive having to read and write to itself. It will also allow you to backup your OS or files to that disk in case of a drive failure.
