My PC is like 6+ years old and it has an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.4 ghz cpu (non-OC) on a DP965LT mobo.

I'll soon update my video card. I currently has an nx8400gs which sux hard. I'll buy an asus gtx750ti 2gb.

So, with my CPU and new GPU how will the following games run on maxed settings @ 1080p? At what average fps approx.?

1. Battlefield 4
2. GTA IV (latest patch + eflc dlc)
3. GTA V (when it comes out)

Solution

That isn't going to happen. I had a Q6600 with a HD7950 boost and it wasn't able to run GTA IV maxed out in 1080p. I had to bring almost all the settings down to medium or high to get at least 30 FPS. The 750ti is a good midrange GPU but you are definitely being optimistic about it. If you want anything close to maxed out in...

Forget anything close to max settings at 1920 x 1080 with an old Core2Duo. You need a fast quad core CPU to max those games.

If you want anything close to maxed out in any of these games, you would need a minimum of a GTX 770 or 280x and a quad core Intel CPU. The 750ti should be good for medium to medium-high in most newer AAA games like BF4 and GTA4 no matter what CPU you have.

Major bottleneck. And the above poster is incorrect in that the 750 Ti will allow those settings no matter what CPU you have. BF 4 and GTA IV both need a fast quad core CPU to run well. This is independent of GPU requirements.

I had an E6600 at 3.2Ghz from 2006 to 2009 and an E8400 at 4.050Ghz from 2009 to 2011. It was a great CPU in its day. It is not sufficient for todays high end games though.

This is where the benchmarks start. Note that the test system used an HD 7970 3GB GPU and the E8400 that is the lowest end CPU in the comparison is about 35% faster than your E6600 factoring in the faster clockspeed and the architecture improvements from Conroe to Wolfdale

What I meant was that even if he has an i7 or i5, the 750ti will never be able to run those games past medium detail. Of course, my choice of words imply that a Pentium 4 would be able to run BF4 in medium and that isn't going to happen. I was trying to say that no matter how fast the CPU is, the 750ti will always be a bottleneck. That's what I should have said.
