Is there an issue with my CPU socket ?

Here is the picture, it didn't want to be put in the actual thread for some reason...

Hello everyone !

I just had my CPU fail for what seems to be a permanent time, with the classical "symptoms", everything powered up and turning on fine, but no image on monitor, as in MB not booting, fans at max, etc...

However, before I returned my 4820k, I wanted to check if the issue wasn't actually with the MB's socket, and I saw those 2 little pins (?) at the bottom of the above picture which seem to be bending... And my question is this: Could these 2 little buggers be the cause of my CPU failing ? Really wish I don't have to actually return my MB (mostly because it's much more annoying to replace in the case and I'll probably have to wait longer...)

Oh, and thanks a lot for your answers and everything !

You can try, if you have a steady hand and something fine enough to get in there, but most of the time you'll just break off the pin or damage the ones around it.

Well, I think I ought to give a little update at least... So I did in fact try to put them back upright (there were no bent ones in the top left, but one more was hidden in a corner), using a mechanical pencil and a sewing needle... I actually managed to put all 3 of them back right ! Unfortunately, I tried to do too well and after messing with one for nothing because I felt it deserved to be a few nano-meters straighter I ended up breaking it... Devastated by my clumsiness and stupidity, I still put everything back together to fire it up annnnd... It worked ! Only the 2 pins that I had fixed were apparently essential, so everything is now going as well as it used to !

Thanks everyone for your help, real glad it got to a happy ending ^-^

Some pins are redundant or not used. Sounds like you got lucky.
