Hello guys.

I have an old HP pavillion-p6669sc (Link to specs: http://goo.gl/EcHhss) and I want to know if this will be OK for using as HTPC. I only want to run XBMC on the machine and possibly add a TV tuner. Right now it is VERY noisy, so I was thinking about changing the case and fans, but using the same Mobo, CPU and GPU (possibly upgrading PSU as well, as it is noisy too). Would this work, and how much would I have to spend on making it an OK machine for HTPC use?

That system is more than enough for an HTPC with a TV Tuner card. Cost to you would just be the case and power supply (if you decided to upgrade it).

just make sure you get a pci-e tuner card

Hauppauge make the best ones

since you have a premium version of windows fitted you have media center .
The learning curve is less steep than xmbc so I suggest you dual boot

IMO if you can live with the case then change the cpu cooler to something quieter , and use a 7 volt mod on the case fans to slow them down
