I am buying my parts tomorrow and looking at getting the FX8320 and will pair it with the gigabyteg GA-990fxa-UD3. From what i have read this might need a BIOS update to work with this CPU. my question is this, if it needs an update how will i do this as the CPU is the only 1 i have. any help would be great guys, or even a mobo that wont need it or pair better as i will be overclocking a little as i have the hyper 212 evo to cool it. buget is under $120

It appears that you need the F9 BIOS version for the FX8320 (on the v1.1 version of the mobo).

If buying from current stock, you are likely okay. If you have a previous version on the mobo, you will have to find a compatible CPU to perform the upgrade. There is no way around this.

The Hyper 212 EVO is an excellent heatsink for this config.

Have fun!

i will be buying from new egg, i was also looking at the Asus
M5A99FX PRO R2.0 also. i saw that asus allowed you to install a bios via usb without a cpu so that sounds like it could update it it needs it.

Even with the Asus, you must still have a CPU installed to access the BIOS. Regardless, you should not have an issue with either motherboard if getting from Newegg. Both are good choices.
