basically im looking to get a 2nd r9 290 and i have cooling issues as it is, so what one out of the 2 would be best, i dont have tons of money to throw away, would prefer the Gelids, cost wise, but ive heard the g10 combo is probably better...
Im stuck on this, its gonna cost about £160 for the corsair combo and about £55ish for the 2 Gelids, is it worth the extra £100 everything considered...

More about : corsair g10 h60 worth gelid solutions icy vision rev 290

From the Gelid site, it looks like it does ok, 15-20c drop, but nothing special. I just installed a G10 and H55 on my 7870 and went from 70-80c max temps during BF3 to 40c under BF3. 3DMark benchmark will push it to 50c. Huge drop.

Now the 290's have a lot more powerful VRM's than my card, so you might need VRM heatsinks using it, depending on what card you are using, it may have stock VRM heatsinks, it may not, and you may need some addtional (few bucks off ebay) heatsinks for the VRM's.

You can ask and read here to see other users experience with the 290 and the G10 and VRM and VRAM heatsinks, etc.

that is a really nice drop, but for the extra £50 per card, it really dosent seem worth it... the gelids, will fit the bill i think

Seriously do not worry about temps, save your money get some case fans right now idle i am at 35. I run crossfire and it is amazing, adding anything is a waste of money tbh.

I have not had a single problem with crossfire, and the fans do not run at %100 even when at full load.

I am also running games in 4K perfectly.

People go overtop with the heat issue, the cards will run fine up to 95 thats what they were made for, seriously amd know what they are doing. Save your money, the extra you spend could go towards the r9 390's when they come out which are watercooled.

Sure, the cards can't handle 95. Can the rest of the parts in your tower handle it over a long time.

Right.... My cpu never goes over 45 at full load with both cards. The card is great any "modifications" are wasted money, they don't even cool the v ram of the card, the stock cooler does a much better job then any aftermarket unnecessary junk.
